Good alternative to kindle

The app and the shop work well. There seem to be more/other books available than on other shops.
I miss a few features though.
I would like to be able to regulate the brightness from within the app like one can do in the kindle. Even with the lowest iOS setting the picture is still very bright if you are reading in a dark room.
Also id like to be able to sync my the current page between several Devices.
The page turn animation looks a bit cheap compared with others, but thats not that important
